On Reflection
If it’s strategy you’re after, you can do far better than Band Of Bugs. Outpost Kaloki X, Worms,
Catan; they all make this game cry. Although passable in multiplayer, do you really want anyone to
know you own a game with this title? What are you? Three?
The Score
Before even giving a second’s thought to the bread and butter of what goes on, this is certainly
excellent value for money, compared to some other games out there. A full campaign mode
is included with this turn-based strategy effort, alongside various standalone levels and even a
scenario creation tool. As far as strategy goes, though, it’s pretty simplistic stuff. Though victory
conditions vary a little, the limited range of weapons, spells and movement types turns it all into a
bit of a plod when you’re by yourself.
With friends things are a bit livelier, although you’re still completely distracted by possibly the
worst graphics of all time, which contain more squares than an accountants’ convention. If you
haven’t had a colour-induced seizure by the end of play you’re either Superman or playing on a
1950s telly.
