On Reflection
It was pap when we first looked at it, and it’s pap now that there’s 99 other games to compare it
with. Proof, if proof be need be, that just because something is free, it does not guarantee that it
won’t be a complete and utter waste of both your time and your bandwidth.
The Score
Shoot-’em-up fans are well known for their dislike of Western shooters, and this lame effort from
three Microsoft interns is unlikely to change their minds. Everything about Aegis Wing screams
generic with a capital G. The power-ups are bland, the ship you pilot is nothing to write home
about and the levels you fly through have been seen a hundred times before. It’s certainly not as
bad as recent releases like Street Trace or Novadrome, and you can’t argue at its insanely cheap
price, but that’s all it’s got going for it.
