Molyneux – Natal could change interaction as much as the mouse
Molyneux went to Copenhagen and talked about control systems. Woohoo.
At Game Jam in Copenhagen the other day, Peter Molyneux took part in a video interview, the most interesting parts of which were:
“If you’re thinking that Natal is going to give you another version of an FPS, you’re just not thinking broadly enough,” he told Gamereactor.
“After all, it was the invention of the mouse that gave us computing as it is today — not the invention of the microprocessor.”
We still think it was the microprocessor, but never mind. We see the big man’s logic. He continued:
“The mouse was the real revolution of the PC — not the Intel processor. And who’s to say Natal couldn’t end up creating something you and I can’t even imagine now. It forces us to approach technology in a completely different way. Before the mouse, we only had the keyboard.”
We also had that weird spinny thing on the Atari 1200 that you could use to play Breakout. Imagine how different the world of computing would have been if that thing took off.
Anyway, we digress. it’s good that Mr Molyneux’s still all about Natal. It makes us ever more excited about whatever he’s going to reveal about Fable III at X10 in a few days which he’s already admitted could very well upset quite a few people. Maybe it won’t have a dragon in it? We can’t wait to find out.
