Just been watching this latest vid of Mercenaries 2: World In Flames. If you haven’t quite got the idea of what this game is all about then I sincerely recommend you check this out. This is a pretty typical mission from what I’ve seen so far. Some good gunplay, followed by and little bit of ‘puzzle solving’ and then a big explosion. I say puzzle solving, but what that really amounts to is what direction you shoot someone in the head from or what type of missile launcher you want to use. In other words the good kind of puzzle ^_^
So, enjoy the vid. Hopefully we’ll have much more on Mercs 2 in 360 soon. Only a few more months before its out anyway. Yay!
There’s a new animated trailer up on Capcom’s Japanese site featuring Ryu, Akuma, Ken and Gouken. Which is odd because he’s supposed to be dead. Akuma killed him ages ago and stole his beaded necklace. But towards the end of the trailer He appears from a waterfall and seems to be in good shape and powerful enough to disrupt the flow of the water with an unseen move. Since this is on Capcom’s site we’re going to have to take it as official and cannon and really quite exciting. Will he be in the finished version of Street Fighter IV? Hope so.
Here’s some screens I grabbed form the trailer, and here’s the link to the trailer itself:
Sweet, Alex from Street Fighter III, and the character I use, is going to appear in the latest crossover fighting game Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. The Tatsunoko bit is loads of anime characters such as Owashi no Ken from Science Ninja Team Gatchaman (or Mark from Battle Of The Planets if you’ve never seen the original, I haven’t either), Casshern from Neo-Human Casshern (or that weird ass film that didn’t make any sense) and a couple of others (Tekkaman? Yatterman? Never heard of them). Will it ever get released over here? Probably not, but that won’t stop me importing it. Here’s some pics!
OK. I’m obsessed with Rock Band. I love it. I always knew I would. Drumming is in my genes. But I can’t, CANNOT, do Dead On Arrival by Fall Out Boy on Expert drums. It makes me hate the world. Especially as if I have to listen to that ugly opening refrain again, I’m going to hurl my drumsticks through my wall straight into central Bournemouth.
It’s been a bit quiet on the campaign trail as you may have noticed since polls closed on May 30. Frankly your response to our poll was a little overwhelming and we found the process of counting the ballots far more time consuming than we had imagined. As a result the results of the poll have been delayed by one issue and will be appearing in Issue 39 out on August 7. Here’s an update on what’s happened so far though… Read the rest of this entry »
GTA IV? Rock Band? Beijing 2008? We need not these things. The most played game on the 360 team right now is Soul Calibur on XBLA. This HD port of the original Dreamcast game went up on PartnerNet about two weeks ago. For those of you who don’t know PartnerNet is a developer only Xbox Live service where XBLA games are beta tested. It’s only available through Microsoft and on Debug Xbox 360 that play early code of games for Preview and Review.
That’s the story on how we get to play games early, now about Soul Calibur. We had some code for Soul Calibur IV come in too and that distracted us for a while. There were only four playable, Mitsurugi, Hilde, Seigfreid and Yoda. It’s a great looking game, as smooth and addictive as ever and that’s why when we put the original Soul Calibur on we were so amazed by how awesome it still is. Not only is it gorgeous looking even today, the animation is slick, the music is great and the gameplay hasn’t dated at all.
That last point is important. This isn’t a nostalgia trip. We don’t get people hanging around our desks at lunchtime for nostalgia. They come for winner stays on, no holds barred side-stepping, sword wielding awesomeness of this game. I just can’t wait for it to arrive on XBLA for real so you can see it for yourselves.
Just to prove that I don’t only blog about Street Fighter IV – here’s some pics of the awesomely named Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. I was just on Capcom’s press site and saw these screens - they’re beautiful.
I’m seriously stretching with a headline like that, but I’ve committed myself to keeping Tim’s trend alive. Anyway, little bit of Bad Company hilarity from the guys at DICE who have put together this Solid Snake piss take for their upcoming (and pretty cool) Battlefield game.
If you haven’t noticed already our World First Review!!! of Battlefield Bad Company is on the shelves right now. It’s well worth a look. The game I mean. And the mag too actually. Why not get both?
I think I’ve used that one somewhere before, but never mind. Because I’ve got the Street Fighter IV moveslist! In my hand, all printed out. Which is awesome. Most of the moves are what you’d expect from returning characters, there don’t seem to be any changes in how you do them, just how they look.
Abel seems pretty cool with a roll, a multipart attack and his command throw, though El Fuerte looks to be a bit mad with his running moves - he can run back or forward and then do lots of different attacks which sound like throws. Rufus has a move that sucks enemies towards him and C Viper has a dash punch, a special kick and a ground pound.
The brilliant thing is though this moves list doesn’t have everything. From what I’ve just learned is that there are a few more special moves for certain characters, such as an evade move for Dhalsim that dodges fireballs (not the yoga teleport, something else), Bison might have a fake teleport that if he’s hit during it he recovers some health, Vega can throw his mask and claws down (dunno why though), Blanka has a move that useful crossing up opponents on their wake up and El Fuerte might have around 12 different moves he can do off his running move. Some of this is a wee bit sketchy so don’t take it as gospel – but it’s from a good source, trust me.
And so to Seth. He’s the boss. Going by the scans of Famitsu’s latest coverage Seth looks a lot like Urien from SFIII and has similar moves, of course the boss from SFIII and Urien’s brother, Gill, has similar moves but he’s a cheap bastard (that Resurrection and the big rainbow thing, Seraphic Wing, were annoying) so I’m ignoring him. This leaves Seth open to possibly use both of their attacks and if you’ve ever seen a good Urien player do his stuff then you’ll know he can be very destructive. Unfortunately we don’t have screens shots of him yet - but here’s some lovely art!
*As in “to the fore” like forefront. Look I’m runningout of things that rhyme with Four and make some sort of contextual sense.
Anyway, there’s an absolutely amazing new Street Fighter vid on the net. Here it is! Points of incredible interest come from El Ferute coming to the fight with a frying pan, M Bision’s Ultra combo combining most of his specials into one massively damaging sequence and, well, all of it really. Watch it here, now.
